We rounded out the end of July with Keith promoting the Bible Training Center for Pastors curriculum of 10 courses to the men of the Family of God Church in Puerto Peñasco. Saul, one of our students, was there to translate Keith's message in Ephesians Chapter 4. Ten men in the church signed up to be a part of Course 1 there. In this class, Saul will be helping Keith teach. Saul is excited to be putting into practice what he has learned. The class will start on Wednesday, September 4, and be held every Wednesday for 20 weeks.
Jenny learned how to make the covered apples that many Mexicans sell on the street to make money. Saul's wife, Linda, taught her how to wrap the apples in tamarind and tajin. We then fellowshipped after that.
One of the pastors from Caborca, about 4 hours from us, who attended the Teacher Training Workshop in March, was in town. Keith met with him and talked about his plans to start classes. He has a group of people he feels that he will teach one day a week. He also has a couple of men he feels he can teach a little quicker and will teach them in a modular style where they will finish each course in about a week. Keith and the pastor talked about the state of the church today in Mexico and the reasons why many Mexicans will raise their hands to accept Christ multiple times. We agreed that the church needs more discipleship. Because of the way Catholicism has conditioned them to confess their sins regularly, is the reason that most will raise their hand multiple times to get "saved." Read More.
