I am grateful to communicate with you once again. I trust you all are doing well in your work fields as well. Let me update you on the current situation regarding our land. Due to the ongoing conflict between civilian armed forces and the military regime in our country, civilians from Rakhine state, Chin state, Kayah state, Northern Shan state, and Kachin state have been leaving their homes for cities like Yangon and other less populated, remote areas since July 3. The regime lost one of its military headquarters in Lashio, Shan state, for the first time. In response, the military began using airstrikes targeting towns and villages, believing that armed forces may be hiding among the civilian population. Thousands of houses, including church buildings, have been completely devastated, and many innocent civilians who could not flee have died. As a result, people are very concerned about what will happen next.
Apart from this man-made disaster, for over three years, natural disasters like floods have severely impacted huge regions for over a month and destroyed thousands of acres of rice fields. Over two million people have been displaced from their homes due to flooding. An emergency relief response is desperately needed. Read More.
